Have an extra hour on weekends or during the week? Can't keep a dog in your apartment but you love dogs? Want to teach your children responsibility and how to behave around animals? Family volunteering is a wonderful thing.
Daily walks provide dogs with mental stimulation, socialization,
exercise, training, and the opportunity to relieve themselves outside of
the kennels. It is rewarding to see how enthusiastically the dogs
respond to their walker companions and how calm and well behaved they
are when perspective adopters come to visit.
Spend some time with a shelter dog. You will both benefit from the experience!

Cats
Our cats and kittens need socialization too!
Cat volunteers help the cats look and feel better, and a well socialized animal is much more like to be adopted than a timid one. You can make a difference!
Love cats but can't have one at home? Have some extra time on your hands? Volunteer to spend time petting and grooming cats and kittens that are waiting to be adopted. Daily attention and tender loving care helps to keep cats friendly. Get them used to being around people or just keep them from missing their former owners or being bored.
Cat volunteers help the cats look and feel better, and a well socialized animal is much more like to be adopted than a timid one. You can make a difference!
