New Aiken County Animal Shelter

The new shelter was designed to reflect the animal-loving community of Aiken County. This potential landmark for the County has three barn inspired buildings and sits on over four beautiful wooded acres. There will be walking trails where people can come walk dogs and enjoy the peaceful, quiet setting.

The main building will have an inviting lobby with retail items to help support the shelter. The entire facility is designed to be a happy, healthy place where animals and people can meet, interact, cuddle and play.

Fresh Air

Our new shelter is a state of the art design that balances operational quality with an inspired aesthetic environment. All the kennels will have fresh air and be divided into sections that reduces the spread of air-borne illness, cuts down noise levels and lowers stress. The adoption wing will have three separate pods with kennels in each. Each pod will have dedicated ventilation with no cross contamination between pods.

The waste disposal system will lower disease transmission and provide for easier cleaning. The four fenced courtyards will be full of greenery and a lovely place to play and get to know the dogs.

We will have a Clinic and a separate Quarantine Area for both dogs and cats with health issues

C.A.T.S. is a community cat colony that has both indoor and screened-in areas providing comfortable space for our cats and kittens. It provides for a healthier, less stressful life for our adoption cats as they wait for their perfect family.

The adoptable cat colony has windows for natural light, including one over the sink in the center aisle that separates rooms for kittens and adult cats. The rear walls have floor level cat flaps for access to the two screened in concrete patios where cats and kittens can play and nap in the fresh outdoor air. C.A.T.S. has tile flooring, good ventilation and climate control
