Ways to Give

IN HONOR / IN MEMORY

In Honor or In Memory donations are perfect ways to recognize a friend, loved one, organization, or special pet. We will send a note to the recipient describing your thoughtful donation on their behalf. These donations make wonderful birthday and holiday presents, which demonstrate not only your love, but also your commitment to care for the County’s abandoned, neglected and homeless animals.

Your donation may be made by check or through our online donation portal by credit or debit card. Please be certain to tell us the name of the person or pet, whether it is “in memory of,” “in honor of,” or “on the occasion of” plus the name and address of the person to whom we will send a notice of your gift.

Checks should be made payable to FOTAS and mailed to P.O. Box 2207, Aiken, SC 29802.

SPAY + NEUTER —FOTAS Fix-A-Pet

FOTAS is leading an effort in Aiken County to reduce our homeless dog and cat pet population through this program. FOTAS is committed to reducing the number of unwanted pets in our County and thus reduce the number of animals coming into our animal shelter.

In 2016, FOTAS Fix-A-Pet organized and paid for the spay/neuter surgeries of 599 community cats and pets owned by citizens who were in need of financial assistance.

FOTAS is committed to reducing the number of unwanted dogs and cats in Aiken County and thus reduce the number of animals coming into our animal shelter through our spay and neuter Fix-A-Pet Program. From 2013 through 2016, FOTAS Fix-A-Pet organized and paid for 2116 community cats and pets owned by citizens who were in need of financial assistance. Aiken County also has a Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) program in which feral cats are fixed and then returned to local cat colonies.

FOTAS works to address the overpopulation of community cats in various problem spots in Aiken County.  FOTAS has been working in and around the town of Wagener and other areas of Aiken County.

Please call the FOTAS Fix-A-Pet Hotline at (803) 507-6315 for any questions.

BEQUESTS THROUGH YOUR WILL OR TRUST

FOTAS has created the FOTAS Eternal Circle for donors to create legacy donations to support the Aiken County Animal Shelter. Documented planned gifts or bequests to FOTAS in your will are cherished and honored by FOTAS. This an excellent way to ensure that your love of animals lives on after you. There are several different ways to make a bequest through your will or trust:

A bequest of a specific amount of money, piece of property, or stock from your estate.

A bequest leaving a certain percentage of your estate to FOTAS.

A residual bequest giving the remainder or a percentage of the remainder of your estate to FOTAS.

A life income bequest.

A contingent bequest naming FOTAS as beneficiary if another beneficiary does not survive you.

You will be issued a certificate of thanks once FOTAS is notified of your documented bequests in your estate planning documents. Please contact MaryLou Welch at 803-514-4313 or MaryLou@fotasaiken.org for more information.

Thank you for contributing to help us find loving homes for homeless pets.

Have a Heart, Save a Heart

Many dogs who arrive at the Aiken County Animal Shelter are Heartworm Positive (HWP) but otherwise very healthy. This condition is very treatable. Heartworm treatment can be extremely costly ($250 – $2500).

Adoptable HWP dogs are available for adoption at the Aiken County Animal Shelter through FOTAS’ “Have a Heart, Save a Heart” Fund. FOTAS offers financial assistance for the basic treatments of heartworms. This policy moves us one step closer toward FOTAS’ goal of never having to euthanize an adoptable pet at the County Shelter.

If you would like to help treat a dog for heartworms, please make a donation to FOTAS’ “Have a Heart, Save a Heart” Fund.
